Made in Britain explores the phenomenon of British fashion; its history, its style, and its inspired reinventions. Design historian Catherine McDermott identifies key elements of British style including British tailoring, past and present; outdoors clothing and the revival of traditional labels; British fabrics; dressing for social events; and rebellion and subversion in British street style. The book explores the work of contemporary British designers including Timothy Everest, Alexander McQueen, and Vivienne Westwood along with accessory designers and the new generation of Brits leading the fashion world such as Luella Bartley and Fake London. It also looks at the current reinvention of classic design houses such as Burberry and Aquascutum, and the 19th-century tradition from which they have grown.
