One of the most significant social and politica; developments of the past decades has been the growing Islamic revival wave throughout the Muslim world. This Islamic "fundamentalism", by some scholars and secular political leaders. They forget the religious revival, which has been developed as one of the future trends of the last decade and will develop in the future decade or in the year 2000. Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Shinto religion will revive in the modern world, to day and tomorrow. Only the color and the intensity of revival will be different, especially between Islam and Christianity, because the difference in theology and principle of these two great religions.

The goal of this book is to enable readers to understand and appreciate what Islam in Indonesia is and its contemporary challesnges, and what we Muslims in Indonesia have struggles to respond to the current situation in the nation.
