This book, like its predecessors, aims to provide a firm grounding in the understanding of infection and its control. In this new edition each chapter has been revised; the vast majority have been completely rewritten. A number of new chapters have been included to take account of new developments in microbiology and some parts of the book have been re-arranged to provide a more logical presentation of the subject.
